A special house, for those who love the handmade and antique, a quality sound system (with a turntable + vinyl!), locally-made where possible, with a definite vintage vibe. Most things have had a previous life, because they have the most character - just like Shopkeeper's. We prefer reusing and recycling, and anyway, pre-loved is just better.
Super-cosy in winter with both wood-fired and gas heating and the split-system keeps things cool in summer.
It’s the perfect space for 2 people and lovely for 4. Lots of games, a large garden that's always changing, and walking and cycling trails just around the corner. Balance out your busy life with a country stay!
(As a measure to keep everyone as safe as possible while still maintaining the atmosphere we love, we're committed to leaving a 1-day buffer between all bookings.)

Ash & I had a wonderful time - yet again - in this beautiful cottage. We were hit by its ambience as soon as we walked in the door. The lovely detail in the decor, the pretty garden surrounds with its rustic touches really spoke to us as we ambled around it and the parklands nearby (including the nearby old railway station). And the immediate hospitality of the great goodies provided were the icing on the cake! This cottage gave us extra love beyond any other! Thanks again Kate & Jamie - Mary & Ash xx
We booked this property to surprise my Dad, whose grandparents retired in Maldon, for his 70th birthday. The property was absolutely perfect - just like stepping back in time. We loved the touches from the owners such as notes about what to do in/around town as well as local produce. The ability to bring our 4 year old Golden Retriever Charlie, very much part of the family, was also much appreciated - he loved the big yard. The owners went above and beyond - organising champagne from Avoca and an amazing cake from the local bakery to be available in the fridge upon check in and giving us a late checkout. Their communication in the lead up to, during and post stay was amazing and I can't thank them enough for making our weekend trip for Dad's birthday so special and memorable! A great property run by amazing people - definitely highly recommend (also pop in and see Jamie in the Maldon Getaways shop if staying as he is super friendly and knowledgeable!) Thanks for an amazing stay!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Shopkeepers. The property has everything you need including fully equipped kitchen, beautiful bathroom with lovely rain shower head, sitting room / lounge room and the linen on the beds is beautiful. It was a hot time of year and the fans and split system kept the house cool. On arrival there were some treats and basics to eat which were appreciated. The garden has sitting areas in the shade and a BBQ. It is a stunning outdoor area. There is access through the rear gate to the Maldon Station surrounds. There is one off -street car space and it’s a short walk to town. We had our greyhound with us as well and the property was secure for her. The cottage has been lovingly decorated, is spotlessly clean and l would highly recommend a stay at Shopkeeper's.
We stayed here for 5 nights visiting Maldon and surrounds as well as a train trip to Castlemaine on Sunday. What a great stay in a terrific ,quirky cottage. It is located next to the rail station and a 7 min walk to the centre of town. The property is spotless and full of curiosities which work perfectly together. We wanted for nothing and found this accomodation great value for money. All facilities were of a high standard and we did not want to leave. There was nothing to criticise and we appreciated all the effort put in to enhance our stay. We have no hesitation in recommending this cottage as a perfect place to stay and relax.
We had the most delightful and relaxing stay in such a quirky and homely cottage. It’s so clean and comfy with all the amenities needed and our hosts were most accomodating. Only problem was we didn’t stay long enough! Looking forward to coming back!
We absolutely love, love love the Shopkeeper's Quarters!! The vintage style and its wonderful details help enhance the history of this beautiful cottage, which made our hearts sing! The ambient lighting, cosy fireplace, the patina of everything - just heaven! And absolutely delicious pancakes from the lovely breakfast goodies was an unexpected delight too. Thank you Kate for your fabulous cottage & Jamie for your magnificent hospitality. Best BnB ever! We'll be back for sure - Mary & Ash :)
What a magical experience staying in your divine home. I was mesmerised from the moment I arrived with the amazing collection of memorabilia and homely touches. The kitchen was gorgeous and such fun to cook in. The linen was a stand out and greatly appreciated. Hearing the train occasionally toot took me back to my childhood and I spent hours in front of the fire reading and listening to records. Thank you so much for your generosity, will definitely be back again 🦋
This house is perfect! We had an amazing time with a group of friends and our dogs. Place has a beautiful fenced off back yard which was great as we could let dogs explore. It was a rainy weekend when we stayed there, so perfect for enjoying cheese and wine in front of the fireplace. Place is really tastefully decorated and every detail taken care off. We also appreciated gifts they left us - from pancake mix to wine and Olives...list goes on. Looking forward to going back soon
Amazingly decorated yet cozy place to stay in the countryside of Victoria. Well equipped with a full-size kitchen and 2 fireplaces to add a country life experience. We definitely come back in the near future.
What a step back in time this gorgeous little cottage is. It was the perfect little honeymoon/weekend away. The cottage was so cosy and the abundance of historical memorabilia made our stay even better. It was presented perfectly and the little complimentary treats was very thoughtful. Thank you so much. We highly recommend this as a relaxing place to stay. I could happily live there. Just beautiful. Thank you Jamie and Kate. We will be back.
