'We had a wonderful stay here. Walking into the cottage is like stepping back into time. Everything about it is gorgeous and welcoming. The bed was super comfy, the fire place was warm and cosy, and the lovely breakfast and tea supplied was an added bonus. The cottage is a short stroll into town, but to be honest, we could have spent all of our weekend in! We were warmly and personally welcomed, with helpful tips about the local area. We loved the eco touches in the cottage, too. All in all, a delightful place - one that we would highly recommend and worth every cent.'

The Shopkeeper’s is a memorable experience. Jamie provided a warm welcome with crusty bread, still warm, a fire set and ready to go and the heater on. Jamie’s attention to detail is meticulous. Being in the tourism business I made mental notes about the gorgeous linen bedding and abundance of vintage style quilts, luxe toiletries, adorable vintage crockery and assortment of crystal wine glasses. At the Shopkeeper’s you receive exceptionally generous hospitality. It is a beguiling immersion in the past without a single compromise on modern comforts. The location is perfect, a stone’s throw from the historic railway station and a short stroll along the rail trail to the center of Maldon. Shopkeeper’s is a rich story and when you stay you become one of the characters.

We loved our two nights in Shopkeepers! It's so rare to find beautiful lodgings where our family dog can also stay. Shopkeepers has this convenience and more: walking distance to town, all possible comforts (ben linens to die for), a pretty outdoor area for a cuppa, delicious breakfast hamper, cosy fire and treasures to enjoy on every shelf. Thanks for making us all feel so welcome.

Where to start This is just a delightful little cottage, we had the best weekend and smiled the entire time!! From our arrival we were met by Jamie who made us feel very welcome and showed us around. The house is like Alain’s cave, we were delighted and kept finding little treasures everywhere. The garden is just the best we sat under the big tree and just enjoyed the serenity. If you want to relax and not move the shopkeepers house is perfect! Big fridge, great stove and great shops to get provisions for your stay. If we didn’t have to work I don’t think we would have left!! Thanks again Jamie for having us in your truly delightful little cottage ❤️

Shopkeepers is a delightful cottage just a short stroll from the town centre. The cottage has been beautifully and thoughtfully renovated and the much attention has been paid to the details. We had Fresh yummy goodies on arrival wine and breaky bits, an actually record player a fire and comfy living area with a fire. We of course loved the relaxed nature of this historical country town but a definite highlight was the steam train. We were greeted in the morning by the quiet whispering of steam and throughout the day a gentle reminder that the train was busy unlike us sipping on gin and tonic in the garden. A massive Thank you to Jamie who couldn't have been more helpful and another definite highlight was bumping into Kevin!!! A brilliant weekend. We will return.

OMG we have just returned from the most amazing 5 days in the most attractive town of Maldon. Shopkeepers accommodation was just perfect, a real credit to the owner. The attention to detail went beyond what was expected. Our host Jamie was amazing he had a very comprehensive and thorough knowledge of the cottage and of Maldon. He was able to suggest the best places to eat, activities to do and where to see the most amazing sunset. Thank you Jamie and thank you Maldon you were both amazing, see you soon we are definitely coming back.

Perfect cottage for a little R&R for a couple of days. Great hospitality, thanks for all the extras, fresh bread and butter was appreciated. Really well set up (a microwave in a cupboard would be great though), comfortable beds and great linen. Thanks again.

We had a lovely stay at Shopkeepers. The place was so pretty and the garden is lovely. Jamie was fantastic. It's a pity we have planned too much and wasn't able to spend more time at the place. Just a few points to note; It would have been good to have a microwave in the kitchen. A bit clearer instructions on the fireplace would have been really handy as well, as we have never operated a fireplace before and had a busy weekend we didn't have much time to research on how to operate a fireplace. We would defiantly come back and spend a bit more time at the house. Thanks Jamie Raji
