Built in the 1860s, Joseph's Cottage retains the original character and charm of a goldfields miner's cottage whilst providing all the modern indulgences you'll require for your country escape.
Perfect for a couple's romantic getaway, or for a larger group get-together - Joseph's offers a standout self-contained accommodation experience.
There are three bedrooms, two bathrooms, lounge room with an open fire place and leather couches, and a fully equipped kitchen featuring a combustion stove and a modern smeg oven. The house has been stylishly furnished throughout with antiques, collectibles and vintage homewares, and with high-quality bed linen and towels.
The cottage is set in a large, well-tended country garden; step onto the large outdoor dining deck, meander through the fruit and berry orchard, down the path through the veggie and herb patches to the henhouse at the bottom of the garden. Enjoy the ambiance of the sunken fire pit, the outdoor barbeque and even a Texan smoker!
Located close to the Victorian Goldfields Railway Steam Train, Joseph's is just a short stroll to the main street. It's a perfect base to enjoy the town's historic streetscape and goldfields' heritage, as well as antique stores, cafes and galleries. Mount Tarrengower offers walking, hiking and bike trails, and Cairn Curran Reservoir offers swimming, fishing and picnic spots. Castlemaine is 15 minutes away; or enjoy a scenic 30-minute drive to Daylesford, Kyneton, Clunes or Bendigo.
Additional touches: bottle of local wine; fresh flowers; seasonal garden fruit, herbs and veggies for picking; hen eggs for collection when girls are laying!
