October Weekend in Maldon

A country cottage like your Grandmothers- warm and welcoming but old world. A very well equipped cottage with comfortable beds, an adequate kitchen, off street parking and an interesting if unruly garden. Heating and cooling is provided in the house. Mind your head on the tops of the door frames and your feet on the steps. The location is an easy walk to the Maldon shops which have most things that you will need. A good place for a quiet weekend away from it all.

Oasis of Beauty and Calm

Perfectly located within a few minutes walk to the town and the iconic vintage train. The cottage is warm and comfortable and is the best stocked self contained accomodation we have experienced. The garden is an oasis of beauty and contemplation. Perfect for an afternoon or evening drink, thinknor conversaion. Our dog Pepper loved the place with plenty of room to roam and sniff out. We plan to make it a regular place to chill and recharge.

The perfect country escape!

A perfect country cottage! Quaint and charming in every way. We absolutely loved our stay, as did our dog! The cottage is perfect for relaxing, reading a book and enjoying a glass of wine from the local area. The garden is tranquil for when the sun is shining and the fire inside is cosy once the sun goes down. Our dog Lola loved the backyard, so much fun with lots of exploring to do. The cottage is a short walk to the Main Street and the Kangaroo Pub has a great Parma! I would highly recommend Smiths cottage and Maldon.

Lovely stay

Hi Jamie Our stay at Smiths cottage was perfect in every way! Our two nights in Smiths Cottage was just lovely, so cosy, comfortable and homely. We did not want for a thing. Such a pleasure walking through the garden and seeing Spring coming alive. Glorious blue sky. Maldon at its best. A drive from Adelaide to Maldon so Craig could walk to the Railway Station and have the thrill of having a day driving a steam train. A tick off his bucket list. It was great to have such perfect accommodation for Craig’s special treat which was a birthday gift from his wife Sandra and their four children. Perhaps there will be another time at Smiths Cottage. Thank you Jamie. Craig, Peter and Lenice Cox 27 August, 2018

Perfect for a few days away

We were looking for a quiet spot to get away to for the weekend and this was perfect. Nothing says country winter more then some local wine around a crackling fire. The back yard is it’s own holiday away from your holiday. We were able to explore the great garden in privacy. Soaking up the sun in the front garden was a delight. When we got sick of our own company it was a quick walk to the pub and restaurants for some great food and local atmosphere. I have recommended this to my family Because there kids would love the spaces the play out the back.

We just stayed at Jamie’s house in Maldon and it couldn’t have been better! A lovely house with everything. Lots of books, records and turntable as well as every facility you’d need. The garden is beautiful too with places to sit and enjoy country air. The house itself is a only a short walk to the town. We loved it and hope to visit again when next in Melbourne.

Cozy and Comfortable

A stay at Smith's Cottage feels like a visit to Grandma's House. We were welcomed with a warming log fire. The house is cozy and wherever you look there are interesting curios and collectables adding a personal touch to the accommodation. Smith's Cottage is historic, but is presented well, very clean and comfortable. Provides for all of your needs while staying in the lovely little township of Maldon. The garden provides a further setting to explore and relax.

Cosy cottage in delightful Maldon

Thank you Jamie for arranging a fabulous overnight getaway in beautiful Maldon. We were a group of seven cousins who planned a train getaway to Maldon for a birthday. Jamie arranged everything for us, even picking us all up from Castlemaine Rail Station. 3 of us stayed at Smiths Cottage while the other 4 stayed up the road at Fairbanks. While Fairbanks is more spacious and ‘upmarket’, Smith’s Cottage is like stepping back into another world. It is cosy, quaint and warm. Comfortable beds and a lovely wood fire (which was already lit for our arrival). The bathroom is basic and fairly original but it was spotless and had plenty of hot water and a great shower. The garden is a true delight and Jamie kindly allowed me to ‘relocate’ some cuttings! We truly had a wonderful time in Maldon and enjoyed lunch at Fig and dinner at Miss Pritchard’s Pantry, who’s owners opened especially for the birthday dinner - such amazing food! I would definitely recommend Jamie and his collection of incredible cottages when you visit this lovely little town.

Mid week getaway

Smiths Cottage was perfect for our midweek getaway. I adored the eclectic style which adorned every nook and cranny of this lovely miners cottage. The garden was lovely with many and varied places to sit and relax. The weather was extremely hot during our stay but the two air conditioners keep the cottage very comfortable. Jamie who was very attentive has created a very well equipped home steeped in history which was an absolute delight to explore.

“5th Times a Charm at Smith's Cottage!”

Smith's Cottage has all the comforts you need for a relaxing time away. The garden is lovely, the wood fire really provides a lot of heat and there is plenty of reading material. Jamie is extremely friendly and very easy to deal with. He is also very helpful if you need advice on things to do in the local area. Smith's Cottage is pet friendly and the location to Main St is perfect. The cottage is light and airy and has such a welcoming feel you will want to revisit. I have stayed on multiple occasions and wouldn't change a thing.
