Wow- what a treat.....

Wow! What an experience. We could only escape from our own business for one night, but wow did we pick the right place to escape too. We were met on arrival by the host Dennis & Carolyn, shown around the suite. Its huge and beautifully styled. Completing the arrival- we had an arrival Champagne with the compliments of the hosts. We decided to stay in house for dinner as the menu that was on offer sounded lovely, and really good value. Served in the dining room of the suite it was like our own private restaurant, if not the very best & smallest restaurant in the Victoria. We loved every moment of the dinner last night, a really comfy bed for a good nights sleep. Breakfast was served in suite by Dennis. The most delicious Croissant and jam, great coffee and a fresh herb Omelette with crispy bacon- heaven. We will be back, next time we will stay the extra night, just to have a second private dinner...Thank you to the hosts Dennis and Carolyn. If you feel that you deserve the very best, stay here! we deserved a treat and so do you!

Great getaway

Maison Maldon is only an hour & a half from Melbourne but feels like worlds away . Very comfortable ,relaxed French provincial ambience. Dennis & Caroline are wonderful hosts with first class food & wine quality. No hesitation returning to this fine property.

Denis and Carolyn’s property is superb. The attention to detail is everywhere - the luxury bed linen, the French dinnerware, the Baccarat crystal candle, the Cire Trydon coasters on the table, the French tea and the Italian bathroom products. There is a real generosity to everything that you experience - the bar frig is stocked with non alcoholic drinks which are complimentary and the dinner and breakfast is exceptional. Denis’ cooking is incredible and he offered to show us how he made the French sauce which accompanied our entree. The food was worthy of a five star restaurant which is probably not surprising given Denis’ background. We will definitely be back.

On arrival at Maison Maldon, from the minute we were greeted at the gate by proprietor, Denis Hagger, directing us to park, our exceptional experience was underway. The accommodation is the equivalent of an apartment, far exceeding our expectations not only in size but the décor and French feel that it provided. We both agreed it would not be out of place in Provence. If anyone knows the history behind Denis Hagger, bon vivant and restaurateur in Melbourne, they will know that Denis is an extraordinary host and is renowned for his skill and flair in the kitchen which once again did not disappoint. A half bottle of French champagne was popped and ready to go before we had the chance to put down our bags. Pre-dinner aperitifs were offered followed by a sumptuous 3-course meal accompanied by beautifully matched wines to top off a wonderful evening. It would be remiss of me not to mention Denis’s most entertaining behaviour during the course of the evening which is certainly an added attraction. We retired extremely satisfied to superb accommodation and then to be woken up on Sunday at the agreed time of 8.00am with a beautiful tray of fresh fruit, orange juice, croissants etc. followed up later by a full cooked breakfast (pre-ordered at dinner the previous evening), another scrumptious offering to set us up for the day ahead. We eventually packed our bags, bid Denis and Carolyn a fond farewell and thanked them heartily for an extraordinary experience that we will certainly be sharing with our friends and business colleagues, a highly recommended weekend retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city at a reasonable tariff considering all that is included in the package
